A registered valuation is a valuation of assets and liabilities of a company that is carried out by a registered valuer. Registered valuers are professionals who are registered with the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI). They are authorized to perform valuations in accordance with the government's guidelines. The concept of registered valuation was introduced in the Companies Act of 2017 to regulate the valuation of a company's assets and liabilities. The purpose of this was to standardize the valuation process and make it more in line with global valuation standards. Registered valuers can perform valuations for a variety of assets, including: Land and buildings Plant and machinery Securities and financial assets Stocks Bonds Intangible assets To become a registered valuer, an individual or entity must meet certain eligibility requirements, including: Passing a valuation examination conducted by IBBI Having the relevant educational qualifications and experience for the asset class being valued Not having been convicted of a crime that is punishable by more than six months in prison Not having been levied a penalty under the Income-tax Act, 1961 Being a fit and proper person
